Gulf Coast Blood Urges Donors to Give Before Approaching Winter Storm

HOUSTON, Texas —  With a winter storm forecasted to impact the region, Gulf Coast Blood is urging eligible donors to give blood now, before weather conditions disrupt donation opportunities.

Severe weather often leads to canceled blood drives and reduced donor turnout, creating immediate strain on the blood supply. Patients in hospitals continue to need blood for surgeries, trauma care, cancer treatments, and chronic conditions regardless of the weather.

“Donating before the storm can make a critical difference,” said Theresa Pina, Chief Growth Officer at Gulf Coast Blood. “A single donation can help save multiple lives and ensure hospitals remain prepared during and after the storm.”

Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment as soon as possible at a Gulf Coast Blood donor center or mobile blood drive.
