At Gulf Coast Blood, we are committed to your health as much as we are to saving lives. We’re offering all blood donors a free A1c screening with every blood donation.

What Is an A1c Test?

The A1c test is a simple blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. It’s a tool for identifying prediabetes or diabetes and helping you stay informed about your health. Early detection of elevated A1c levels can be a game-changer in preventing the long-term complications of diabetes.

Why Is This Important?

Over 37 million Americans are living with diabetes, and 1 in 5 of them don’t even know they have it. With early detection, you can take control of your health and make lifestyle changes that could prevent diabetes. By donating blood and receiving your A1c results, you’re not only saving lives but also staying on top of your own health.

Who Should Be Screened?

Everyone! Whether you have a family history of diabetes or simply want to be proactive about your health, the A1c test is a valuable tool. However, it’s especially important if you:

Have a family history of diabetes
Are 45 or older
Have high blood pressure or high cholesterol
Are African American, Hispanic, or Native American, as these groups are at higher risk for diabetes.

By giving blood, you’re making an impact not only for patients in need but also for your community. Every donation helps ensure blood is available when it’s needed most, while the A1c test empowers you to stay healthy and informed. Together, we can save lives & help prevent diabetes.

Viewing Your A1c Test Results:

Eating a balanced meal before donating blood helps you stay energized and prevents lightheadedness. While some medical tests require fasting, our A1c test does not—so you can eat as usual before your donation. Stay nourished, hydrated, and ready to make a difference!

Donate Blood – Schedule your blood donation with us.

STEP 2:

Every blood donor at Gulf Coast Blood will receive a free A1c screening with their donation through July 31, 2026.

STEP 3:

Get Your Results – You can check your results by signing into your Digital Donor account within two weeks of your blood donation.
